Fayyaz Baqir

Fayyaz is a Development Practitioner who served as a visiting professor at the University of Ottawa from 2018 to 2020. With over three decades of experience, he has managed grant programs supporting Local Agenda 21 and focused on poverty alleviation, participatory development, and social entrepreneurship. He has held key roles such as Programme Monitoring Officer for Aga Khan Rural Support Programme, National Coordinator for UNDP’s small grants program, and Senior Civil Society Advisor for the UN in Pakistan. Baqir has also taught at prestigious universities including Harvard and McGill, and has contributed to developing strategies for organizations like Plan International and Water Aid. His work has earned him recognition, including awards from UNDP for his contributions to poverty alleviation.
